MediMusic - prescribing music as medicine

MediMusic is an innovative HealthTech start-up, based in Hull, that uses an AI app to dispense music as medicine to reduce pain, anxiety and stress in patients.

NHS trials with dementia patients found that by listening to MediMusic’s bespoke playlist of music tracks, their heart rate decreased by 24%, easing their stress.

Larkin PR was asked to plan and deliver the launch of MediMusic.

We drafted a launch plan with a press release and footage of MediMusic being used on a new trial of nurses and doctors in a COVID ward to help reduce their anxiety.

We helped to secure coverage in The Guardian, BBC Click on BBC2 and BBC World TV, BBC Online, BBC Radio 4’s PM programme, BBC Radio 2’s Jeremy Vine Show and Rory Cellan’s-Jones BBC Tech Tent podcast.

This led to a successful funding round, generated contracts and pilots with several NHS trusts and care homes and award nominations.

MediMusic CEO and co-founder Gary Jones said:

“I’ve worked with a lot of agencies over the years when I worked in the music industry but Larkin PR has delivered more coverage than I have ever seen. They took the time to get under the skin of MediMusic, crafted our messages and helped us tell our story.

“I was particularly impressed that the video footage produced and shot by Larkin PR and their collaborators Influence Media was so good that it was used by the BBC.

“Larkin PR really understands what start-ups need and their launch and ongoing support have led to a successful investment round, award nominations and more business growth.

“I cannot recommend Larkin PR enough.”
